On Sunday, November 26, 2023, the Savolskis - Wasik - Glenn Funeral Home, Inc., held its annual Holiday Memorial Service at St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Munhall. The event was attended by families that we have served throughout the past year who came to remember their loved ones at the start of the Christmas season.
Prior to the start of the service, family members lit candles which contained a photo and the name of their loved ones at the front of the church.
A brief welcome was provided by Marty Bovee of the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Cathedral on behalf of Fr. Andrew Deskevitch, who was unable to participate this year.
Fr. Dan D'Antonio of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish read a scripture passage and gave an uplifting meditation.
During the service, the names of the deceased were read as each family received ornaments in remembrance of their loved one.
Musical arrangements were conducted by Tom Coyne, and included solos by Kim Rodman and Thomas Trapp.

The event was attended by families that we have served throughout the past year who came to remember their loved ones at the start of the Christmas season. Family members lit candles at the front of the church which contained a photo and the name of their loved ones prior to the start of the service. Fr. Andrew Deskevich opened the program with a prayer. A scripture reading and meditation was given by Fr. Nick Mastrangelo. During the service, the names of the deceased were read and then each family received ornaments in remembrance of their loved one. Musical arrangements were conducted by Tom Coyne.
It is with a heavy heart that we must celebrate our annual Holiday Memorial Service virtually this year, as the COVID pandemic continues. It is our hope that this virtual celebration of life will bring some small measure of comfort to those we have served, and we look forward to gathering again in the coming year. May you all have a "Merry Christmas," and find peace in the New Year.
