Albert S. Mitchell

Age 85, of Munhall, died peacefully in his home on Thursday April 14th.  He was the son of the late John and Mary Mitchell and the youngest of six children. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34-years Norma, his older siblings John, George, Mike, Helen, Margaret and a stepdaughter Cindi.  He is survived by his devoted daughter and son, Linda, of Peters, and Jim, of Baldwin, his cherished grandchildren James, Brian, Skyler, Miriam, Amber, Jenna and Ronald as well as his dear stepchildren Bob & Geri MacBeth of Penn Hills, George MacBeth and Tom Gagliardi of Munhall, Lisa and Donald Junstrom of Munhall, Bill and Fern Carroll of West Mifflin, and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Mr. Mitchell was an honored Veteran who was stationed in Germany while serving as a Corporal in the US Army. He later worked as a Machinist for Mesta Machine Co. where he retired after nearly 30-years. He was a Member and Officer of the Homestead Order of Owls, the Loyal Order of Moose Club, the American Legion, and the B.P.O.E Elks. He attended St. Therese Catholic Church in Munhall.  Mr. Mitchell was also an avid bowler who often led his league in scoring average. He remained active until the time of his death insisting on a yearly pilgrimage to Kennywood Park so he could ride the Log Jammer with his grandkids.  Mr. Mitchell left his life on earth the way he lived it.. peacefully on a day filled with sunshine and a warm gentle, breeze.. conditions that mirror his demeanor and reflect his legacy.  Friends received Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Savolskis-Wasik-Glenn Funeral Home, Inc., 3501 Main Street, Munhall. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am Monday at St. Therese  Church, Munhall.  Al truly cherished his family and friends and greeted them with heartwarming smiles and encouraging words. He blessed us with his presence. He will truly be missed.
