George "Al" Chiz

Of Munhall died at home on Saturday, April 29, 2017.  Age 84.  Born August 31, 1932 to the late George & Josephine (Hudoba) Chiz.  Brother of the late Ann Duda, Tillie Kraf & Johnny, Eddie & Ray Chiz Sr.  Survived by his sister-in-law Arline Chiz & many nieces, nephews & friends.  Al resided in the family home built by him & his brothers in the late 40's.  Soon after graduating from high school & working at the Pittsburgh Athletic Assoc., he opened his own dairy store in Dravosburg.  He continued to operate the Highview Dairy, after his service in the army, until 1967.  It was at this time he & his brothers founded Chiz Bros., Inc., a refractory contracting business.  Al continued working with the company until it was sold in 2014.  He was one of the early members of the McKeesport Little Theater & continued his involvement for many years as a board member & producer.  It was there that he met many of his lifelong friends.  Al was also a world traveler & an avid reader.  Friends and family will gather at Savolskis-Wasik-Glenn Funeral Home, Inc., 3501 Main St., Munhall, PA on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 5-8 PM.  It was Al's wish that there be no funeral service & that the burial be private.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in his memory.
