Mary L. Freda

Age 99, at Southwestern Assisted Living on February 11, 2015; as she lived, quietly and peacefully. Preceded in death by parents Nicola and Carina (Buono) Freda and siblings Frank, August, Rose Ciampoli, Ann Ciccarelli, Gilda Murray and Lucia Clementi. Survived by brother Joseph R. Freda of Munhall and nieces and nephews (including great and great-great).

A resident of Munhall for more than 80 years, Mary was employed in the Billing Office at US Steel Homestead Works from 1943 until her retirement in 1979. Everyone should have an Aunt Mary like ours. A positive and kind person, she looked forward to every day. Her life centered on her faith and family. She was unflappable, whatever the situation. She was a constant presence in our lives, delighting in family gatherings, including regular family reunions over Labor Day weekends. Aunt Mary never went anywhere empty-handed. Her ever-present shopping bag always carried goodies from Blue Bonnet Bakery and gifts chosen with much care and love. While we had hoped to celebrate her 100th birthday in April, we have happy memories of celebrations for her 80th, 90th and 95th birthdays.

Friends received Savolskis-Wasik-Glenn Funeral Home, 3501 Main Street, Munhall, Sunday from 2 - 6 p.m. Funeral Mass Monday 10:00 a.m. at St. Therese of Lisieux Church, Munhall, Rev. Nicholas M. Mastrangelo officiating.
