Walter C. Walendziewicz

Of Pleasant Hills, on March 17, 2017, age 70.  Beloved husband of 47 years of Cheryl L. (Mohney) Walendziewicz; son of the late Walter and Elizabeth Walendziewicz; devoted father of Ann (Albert) Gaska; loving Pap Pap of Alayna and Andrew Gaska; brother of Dolores (Francis) Szatkowski and Patricia (late Bob) Hajduk; brother in law of William Mohney, Alan Mohney, Susan (David) Swenson and the late James Mohney; also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and his dog, Lizzy. Walt was a graduate of Duquesne University with a Master’s Degree in Education.  He was a High School Spanish teacher for West Mifflin School District, where he retired with 34 years of service.  He was a dynamic teacher who brought the real world into his classroom.  He enjoyed and respected his students tremendously and they, him.  The love and respect not only lasted during his teaching career but also into his retirement years.  His teaching defined him.  Walt was a recipient of many awards which included Who’s Who Among American Teachers and Duquesne University Award for Excellence in Teaching and Commitment to University Values and Traditions. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.    Family and friends will be received at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3501 Main Street,, Munhall on Tuesday 6-9 PM and Wednesday 2-4 and 6-9 PM.  A Funeral Mass will be Thursday, 11:00 AM at St. Thomas A’Becket Church, Jefferson Hills.  Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Capuchin Franciscans 220 37th Street Pittsburgh, PA 15201 (www.capuchin.com)
