Of Munhall, on April 9, 2018, age 89. Son of the late Andrew and Anna Chekan; beloved husband of 67 years of Eleanor (Racho) Chekan; father of Paul (Toni) of Jefferson Hills, PA, Michael (Dana) of Heidelberg, PA, Gregory (Anna Marie) of Baldwin, PA and Nicholas (Dina) Chekan of Bristow, VA; brother of Edward and Joseph Chekan and Mary Lou Socher and the late Andrew and George Chekan and Margaret Dudas and Anna Marie Hanich; grandfather of Nathan, Emily, Alexander, Margot, Jamison, Jonathan and Peter; great grandfather of Julian and Benjamin. Paul was a Veteran of the US Navy and was the recipient of the World War II Victory medal. He was an active member of St. John the Baptist Cathedral, serving as an usher for many years. He was an avid golfer for 50 years and he received a gold medal from Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local #9. In his later years, he was employed as a building coordinator for the GCU. Family and friends will be received at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall on Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Panachida Service will be Thursday 3:30 PM. A Funeral Liturgy will be held Friday 10 AM at St. John the Baptist Cathedral, Munhall. Burial will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Cathedral.
