Pauline Jean (Behun) Kontos

Jean Kontos,  age 80, peacefully went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 14, 2020. During her last days she was constantly surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late John and Anna Behun. Jean was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 35 years, Constantine “Gus” Kontos; and brother, Michael Behun. Jean was the mother of Janet Kontos of Portland, OR, Connie Kontos of North Versailles, Steve Kontos of Whitaker and Evie (Daniel) Rhodes of Ross Twp . She was the grandmother of Adam (Rachel) Smoley of Finleyville, Dana Landis of Portland, OR, and Allison (Joshua) Schmitt of South Park. Also survived by brothers and sisters, Dorothy Scheletsky, Ann Havrilcsak, Mary Brekosky, Bernie Motta, and Tom Behun; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Kay Zanic. Jean was a devoted member of St. Therese Catholic Church, where she attended regularly. She enjoyed time alone listening to music, but also being in the presence of her family. Her most recent joy was learning of the future arrival of a great-grandchild. The family would like to thank the staff of the 5th Floor Progressive Unit and the Hospice Care at Mercy Hospital for their kindness and compassion during Jean's time with them.
