Andrew Kolesar, Jr., 89, of Gainesville, Florida, died peacefully on May 4, 2023.
He was the son of the late Johanna and Andrew Kolesar, Sr. His late siblings include Eleanor Rittinger, Marion Stefanko, George Kolesar, and twin brother, John M. Kolesar. He is survived by his former wife and beloved friend, Peggy Brosgol; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Born on June 15, 1933, Mr. Kolesar was raised on Mifflin Street in Homestead and was a 1951 graduate of Homestead High School. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy and served aboard the Naval Destroyer USS Knapp during the Korean War. In 1963 he earned a masters degree in library science from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Kolesar was retired after working at the Colorado State University, the Florida Dept. of Corrections, and the Florida Dept. of Agriculture. He was a devout Catholic and a devoted Steelers and Florida Gator fan.
Friends and family will be received at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120, on Wednesday, June 14, from 6 - 8 PM. A private Catholic service for family will follow. A Military Committal will take place the following morning, Thursday, June 15, 10 AM, at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA. Please meet at the cemetery by 9:45 AM.
