Bess Kelly Shehady, of Munhall, passed away on September 22, 2024, at the age of 57.
She was the beloved partner of 40 years of Tim Cloherty; loving mother of Diana (Marvin) Shehady-Harris; cherished grandmother of Alexia and Champ Harris; daughter of the late Wade and Bessema Shehady; sister of Wade (Lisa) Shehady, Marilyn (Dan) Nemchik, Pam (Paul) Smith, Janet (Jim) Knight, Kim (Bob) Shehady-Volzer, Philip (Michelle) Shehady, and the late Gregory Shehady; also survived by generations of numerous nieces and nephews; and her fur-grandchildren, Meechie, Miley, Lucy, and Zeus.
Bessie was the youngest among eight siblings. She was born in Homestead, PA, where she found happiness in the family restaurant and rug shop, where her late parents and siblings filled her days with warmth and laughter. She worked at the Rack of Lamb until it closed, before starting her time with Shehady's Oriental Rugs, where she poured her heart into her work as a rug specialist most of her life.
Her greatest treasures were her roles as a mother and grandmother, and she cherished being an aunt and great-aunt, too. Despite the shadow of illness that loomed over her, she loved her daughter fiercely, standing by her side through every struggle. Bessie was born with a disease that haunted her existence, yet she fought valiantly, never uttering a complaint. Her heart was a sanctuary for those in need; a stranger on the street would find a warm meal in her hands, and a cold soul would be wrapped in her kindness. Always wearing a smile, she put others before herself, a true giver in a world that often took. Now, as we gather our memories, the void she leaves behind is profound. She will be deeply missed, and we are grateful for the beautiful moments we shared with her.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, October 4, 2-8 PM, at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120, where a Funeral Service will take place the following morning, Saturday, October 5, at 11 AM. Interment will follow at the Homewood Cemetery, Pittsburgh, where Bess will join her family in eternal rest. Condolences may be left at www.swgfuneralhome.com.
