Carmella L. Gennari, of West Mifflin, passed away on October 24, 2023, at the age of 96.
She is survived by her sons, Frank J. (Karen) Gennari and Joseph Gennari; grandchildren, Frank E. Gennari, Leslie (Alex) Bobrek, and Alex J. (Megan Sparico) Gennari; and great-grandchildren, Kate Gennari, and Michael and Andrew Bobrek; as well as nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved late husband, Frank Gennari; parents, Joseph and Mary (Iacovelli) Pomella; and brothers, Angelo and Joseph Pomella.
Carmella was known far and wide for her immaculate housekeeping; not a speck of dust would escape her eyes. A typical Italian, she enjoyed making noodles, spaghetti sauce, and meatballs from scratch - a legendary Sunday meal among the family. For many years, she enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables. She tended to her vegetable garden as meticulously as she did her house and canned a variety of fruits and vegetables.
In her golden years, she loved to play Bingo with her friends. Carmella was a long-time member of Resurrection Church in West Mifflin and, at various times, belonged to the Marian Guild, the Happy Hours Club, and the Knights of Columbus Senior Group. She was also a member of the Homeville Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, October 29, 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 30, 10 AM, at St. Rita Church of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Munhall.
