Carmen R. Marcelli of Pleasant Hills, formerly of West Homestead, peacefully passed on February 12, 2023 at the age of 89. He was the beloved husband of Mary Louise (Cioppa) (Pilot) Marcelli; father of Jeanette (Anthony) Aches, Carmine Marcelli, Michele Pilot (Michael) Thomas, and John J. Pilot; grandfather of Meg, Sarah, and Anthony Marcelli, Michael and David Aches, Trevor and Mia Thomas; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Carmen is preceded in death by his parents, the late Rocco Marcelli and the late Rose (Rossi) Marcelli; his late wife Margaret (Mihaly) Marcelli; his brother the late Peter (wife Jane survives) Marcelli; and his sister, the late Joanne (late Tim) McKelvey.
Carmen lived a rich and fulfilling life at both home and at work. He was born in Rankin and was a graduate of Rankin High School, class of 1952. He served honorably in the US Army and worked as a grocery manager at Kroger’s for 32 years, as well as at the University of Pittsburgh’s book center. As a family man, Carmen was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with those who loved him most. This time and dedication to his family and his knowledge of all things mechanical earned him the nickname as “Our Family’s Mr. Fix-It.” Carmen enjoyed doing car repair, gardening in the sunshine, and cooking with his loved ones. He was also a proud member of the Swissvale Italian Sons and Daughters Association.
Family and friends to be received on Thursday, February 16 at 1 – 4 PM and at 6 – 8 PM at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, 15120. A Funeral Mass will take place the following day on Friday, February 17 at 10 AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Church, 1 St. Therese Court, Munhall, 15120 of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. Interment to follow at All-Saints Catholic Cemetery, North Braddock PA.
