Eleanor Bernadette (Vrabel) Balta, age 87, of Dravosburg, PA, passed away under the care of Paramount Senior Living at Cranberry on Christmas Day, December 25, 2020. She was born January 4, 1933, in Homestead, PA, to the late Frank and Anna (Banyas) Vrabel. Beloved wife of the late George A. Balta, Jr., whom she married on October 11, 1958. She is survived by her adoring children, Richard (Lori) Balta of Manassas, VA, Blaze (Debbie) Balta of Elizabeth, PA, and Cheryl (Neil) Pettes of Cranberry Township, PA; and 7 treasured grandchildren, Trevor, Tristan, Trent, Broc, Allison, Dylan, and Ryan. One of seven children, she was the sister of the late Francis (Dorothy survives) Vrabel and Nancy (the late Raymond) Vincevich, and surviving siblings, Joseph (the late Helen) Vrabel, Patricia (the late Andrew) Swabsky, Diane Vrabel, and Darlene (John) Turner. She is also survived by 12 nieces and 5 nephews.
Eleanor graduated from Munhall High School in 1950 and went on to work for Bell Telephone as an operator/supervisor for many years. After becoming a Mom, she worked as a part-time associate for ten years at Hills Department store. She was a devoted, loving mother and grandmother to her three children and seven grandchildren and was adored by everyone who met her. For many years she was active in the Ladies Guild at SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Duquesne, PA, and enjoyed participating in their bowling leagues with her husband, George. She loved to bake, sew, crochet, read romance and mystery novels and spend time with her family, especially at their cottage at the Yough Lake. She will be missed dearly.
Family and friends received on Wednesday, December 30, 9 - 11:30 AM at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. A Funeral Service will follow on Wednesday, December 30, at 12 noon at Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Duquesne.
