Eleanor (Racho) Chekan

Eleanor (Racho) Chekan of Munhall, passed away on December 16, 2023 at the age of 96. Loving wife of the late Paul Chekan for 67 years; mother of Paul (Toni) Chekan, Michael (Dana) Chekan, Greg (Anna Marie) Chekan, and Nicholas (Dina) Chekan; daughter of the late John and Mary (Zeleznock) Racho; sister of Mary Drosdak and Thomas Racho; grandmother of Nathan, Emily (Ashe), Alexander, Margot (Nicholas), Jamison, Jonathan (Jullian) and Peter (Julianna); great-grandmother of Julian, Benjamin, Amelia, and Theodore.

Eleanor was a longtime member of the GCU and at St. John the Baptist Cathedral where she was active in church functions. She was an avid reader at the Homestead Library and loved her family dearly.

Family and friends will be received at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3501 Main Street, on Tuesday, December 19th from 5 – 8 PM. A Panachida will be held at 7:45 PM that evening. A Funeral Service will be held the following day on Wednesday, December 20th at 10 AM at St. John the Baptist Cathedral. Interment will take place on Thursday, December 21st, at 11 AM at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
