Elmer C. Pitchford, Jr.

Elmer C. Pitchford, of Munhall, passed away surrounded by family on December 26, 2024, at the age of 89. He was the beloved husband of 59 years of the late Arda M. (Fredrickson) Pitchford; loving father of Rose (late Gene) Grimm of Lincoln Place, PA, Charles (Barbara) Pitchford of Butler, PA, Susie (David) Harakal of Munhall, PA, and Robert (Michelle) Pitchford of Brunswick, GA;  proud pap pap of Christopher (Alys) Grimm, Megan Grimm, Brian Pitchford, Laura Pitchford, Allison (Steven) Driggers and Zachary Pitchford; the best great pap pap of Logan Seelhorst and Nico Burns; son of the late Elmer C. and Elizabeth (Kundrat) Pitchford; brother of Hazel (William) Fowler, June (Dennis) Jew, and the late Betty Ann White; also survived by generations of nieces and nephews.

Elmer was a pipe fitter for US Steel Homestead Works until his retirement at the age of 62.  He then went to technical school for air conditioning and worked in that field for many years.  Elmer was a great guy, ready to help anyone who needed it at any time.  He loved his family especially his great grandsons, but he also loved a good fish sandwich and ice cream!  His family will be forever grateful for the many memories, laughs and love that will be with them forever.  

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 30th from 3-7 PM, at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 10 AM, at the St. Therese of Lisieux Church of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Munhall. Interment will follow at St. Elias Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, West Mifflin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia Society of America or the Alzheimer's Association.  Condolences may be left at www.swgfuneralhome.com.
