Elsie (Halaburka) Urban

ELSIE (HALABURKA) URBAN of Munhall. Passed away very peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at the age of 99.

Elsie lived a full life bringing so much happiness to those around her. A wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She often spoke about working at Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh. In later years, she was a purchasing agent for Allegheny County. She was most proud of the fact, supervisors entrusted special assignments to her knowing the project would be done well. Elsie took such pride in her Byzantine Catholic faith. Volunteering at St. John’s Byzantine Cathedral Church Center in Munhall brought her great joy.  

She frequently stated, “the Lord is with me” and she is now with the Lord rejoicing with her loving husband John. They shared a wonderful life together and now dancing together, as they did when meeting at Kennywood Dance Hall, many years ago. Always with a smile, Elsie brought such joy to many. She enjoyed living at Logan Place in Lower Burrell the last 7 years. The staff was remarkable and we thank everyone who took such good care of our Mom. A special thank you to Monarch Hospice, Dr. Danielle Godinez, Chrissy (her nurse), and especially Vanita, who made Elsie look beautiful every day!

Elsie will be sadly missed by her son John (Mary Rita) of Rocky River, OH; her daughters, Marilyn Manfredi (Sam) of Fox Chapel, PA and Lori (Joe) Louisville, KY; grandsons, Michael (Camille) Cleveland, OH, and Ryan (Stephanie) Chicago, IL; and her great-grandchildren, Xander, Eliana, Graclyn, Riley, Georgia, Marnee, and Brody.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 23, 2-7 PM, where a Panachida Service will be held at 2 PM, at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 24, 10 AM, at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Cathedral, Munhall. Interment will follow at St. John's Cathedral Cemetery, Munhall.
