Of Lincoln Boro, Emily passed away peacefully on February 27, 2020, age 92. Born in Liberty Boro, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Caroline Blaha. She was the beloved wife of 38 years to the late John Slaby; loving mother of Lorraine Slaby and Linda (John) Dindak; she was predeceased by her 10 brothers and sisters; she was the proud grandma of Johnathan (Jessie) Dindak, Alexandra Salina and Danielle Dindak; she is also survived by family and friends. From the time Emily was little, she always had a giving and loving heart. Coming from a large family, she was often sent to help other family members raise their children, so from an early age she learned how to be a nurturer. During WWII she proudly worked in a military bomb factory becoming a real life “Rosie the Riveter”. She loved to bake and worked for Feig’s Bakery which was in McKeesport, but she will always be remembered for her famous pizzellas. She never thought twice about making them for anyone or any event. They were truly a special treat! Emily had a kind heart and was willing to do anything for anyone, she will be truly missed by all those who knew her. Family and friends will be received at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall on Saturday 10 AM until the time of the Blessing Service which will be at 12 noon with Fr. Dan Sweeney officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Emily’s memory.
