Gary Meissner Obituary

Gary J. Meissner, of Pittsburgh, passed away on January 2, 2026, at the age of 78. 

He was the devoted husband of 52 years to the late Joan (Hrinda) Meissner, the love of his life, whom he deeply cherished unitil her passing in 2020. A loving father of Gary (Michele) and Everett (Rebecca) Meissner. He was also the proud and cherished grandfather of Michael, Elisheva and Daniel.  

Gary was the son of the late Everett and Mildred Ann (Lowery) Meissner; brother of Donna Kunkel, Deborah Meissner, Louis Meissner, Connie (Eddie) Sheehan, James Meissner, Darlene (Rich) Procacina, and the late Everett (Darlene) Meissner and Jackie (Ross) Lindsey; also survived by generations of nieces and nephews.

A retired First Sergeant with the United States Army, Gary lived a life rooted in service, loyalty and quiet devotion. He was a faithful member of of the Catholic Church, worshiping at St. Stewart Church in Hinesville, GA during his years there, and later at St. Basil Church in Pittsburgh.

Private services are entrusted to the Savolskis-Wasik-Glenn Funeral Home, Inc., 3501 Main St., Munhall, PA.  Inurnment will take place in St. Elias Cemetery, West Mifflin, PA.  Condolences may be left at swgfuneralhome.com.
