Helen "Audrey" Terrell Obituary

Helen “Audrey” Terrell was a fun loving, adventurous spirit who championed education.  She loved reading, animals, puzzles, cooking, and sports- especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins.

Born to Mrs. Helen M. Tishon and Mr. Anothy Tishon of Homestead, PA.  Audrey was preceded by Thomas Tishon, Barbara Bleecker (nee Tishon), Patricia Sanitrik (nee Tishon), and Rose Tishon (all deceased), and later followed by Antoinette Tishon (deceased) and James Tishon.

Audrey attained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree from the University of Connecticut in pursuit of a career as an English Literature teacher.  This career would take her to new and interesting locales, including Germany, where she taught the children of the US military personnel at Kaiserslautern American High School.  Later she moved onto teaching at Patrick Henry High School in San Diego, CA.

While living in San Diego she met and married Charles H. Terrell (deceased), a sailor in the United States Navy.  Life took them to Evanston, IL and then to Covina, CA where she gave birth to her only child, Geoffrey P. Terrell.

Following her divorce from Charles, Audrey moved back to the Pittsburgh area, which she would call home for the last 40 years of her life.  After returning to Pittsburgh, she worked as a substitute teacher and an administrative assistant at Duff’s Business Institute before finding an opportunity at Carnegie Mellon University, where she worked as an administrative assistant in the Chemical Engineering department for 19 years.

In addition to being the devoted mother of Geoff, Audrey was a cherished stepmother to Lynn Arnold (nee Terrell), Charlotte Wilson (nee Terrell), and Craig Terrell.  She was the loving aunt of Marybeth Vargha (nee Bleecker), Kimberly Bleecker, Brad Bleecker (deceased), David Sanitrik, Patti Pulkowski (nee Sanitrik), Jayme Tishon, and Ryan Tishon.  She was the doting “cat mom” to Arctic and Foggy.

She passed away peacefully at home on the morning of March 20, 2026.  She will be cherished fondly by her family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, and anyone else lucky enough to experience her quick wit, playful spirit, and steadfast resolve.  No services are planned for this time.  Arrangements entrusted to Salvolskis-Wasik-Glenn Funeral Home Inc.
