Joan P. (Pesta) Bodnar

Joan P. Bodnar, of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2023, at the age of 91.

She was the beloved wife of Robert Bodnar, whom she married at St. Elias Church on August 1, 1959; loving mother of Joanne (Daniel) Baierl of North Huntingdon, Carol (Timothy) Oriss of Pleasant Hills, and Ann Marie (Derek) Bodnar of Huntingdon Valley, PA; grandmother of Kira and Justin (Shayla) Baierl, Nicholas (Sabrina) and Andrew Oriss, and Abigail Bodnar; daughter of the late Julius and Emma (Dancso) Pesta; and sister of Irene Grzyb and the late Mary Mamaeff and Emma Harvey. She is also survived by generations of nieces and nephews.

Joan was a 1950 graduate of Munhall High School, and attended secretarial school. She was a former legal secretary in Pittsburgh and a former secretary at Braddock General Hospital. She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Cathedral and a member of the Greek Catholic Union Lodge #2.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, September 28, 6-8 PM, and Friday, September 29, 2-4 & 6-8 PM, at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120, where a Panachida Service will take place on Friday at 7:45 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Cathedral, Munhall, on Saturday, September 30, 10 AM. Private interment will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
