Joel W. Tatrai

Joel W. Tatrai of West Homestead, on April 7, 2025 age 72. Beloved son of the late William V. and the late Mildred (Hagan) Tatrai. Brother of Janet (late Gary) Miller and William (late Carol) Tatrai. Uncle of Christopher Miller, Erika Tatrai (Dan) Doyle, and Ryan Tatrai. Great uncle of Veda and Mac Doyle. Friends received Savolskis-Wasik-Glenn Funeral Home Inc., 3501 Main St. Munhall, PA on Wednesday from 2-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday 10 AM at St. Therese Church, St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Munhall. Joel went to St. Stephen School in Hazelwood and then attended Gladstone High School in Pittsburgh, graduating in 1970.  He was a former bricklayer helper rebuilding furnaces at United States Steel Homestead Works.  He also worked as a landscaper at Homewood Cemetery and a janitor at South Hills Country Club.  He finally retired as a janitor from the Steel Valley School District.  Joel loved being around family and friends more than anything.  He had a special relationship with his father.  They lived together helped each other on a daily basis.  Millie, our beloved mother, has been dearly missed since we lost her in 1966.  Joel had a close bond with his siblings through the years.  He also loved his niece and nephews and was especially proud of Erika's children Veda and Mac.  His brother Bill's wife Carol's family, the Rogers', were very loving to Joel and made him feel like one of their own.  He always enjoyed family events with the Hagan and Tatrai aunts, uncles and cousins.  Joel's favorite activities included watching the Steelers, beach trips, listening to music, visiting his sister, Janet, in Dallas, talking to friends and lastly, walking on Main St. in Munhall as many had witnessed over the years.  His hardy laugh is one that will never be forgotten.  We will miss him dearly.
