John M. Galanis

Of West Mifflin, John went to be with his Lord and Savior, on May 12, 2022, age 68.  Son of the late George and Matilda (Bodnar) Galanis; beloved husband of 38 years of Martha (Rudy) Galanis; loving father of Christina, Bill, Debi, Susan and the rose of his life, Talia; brother of Patricia, Julie, Barbara, and the late George; Grandfather "Pap John" of Hunter, Stone, Cody, Austin, Travis, Grace, and Valentina; also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.

John worked at the Union Switch and Signal for 10 years, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in security before working at Bettis as a security police officer where he retired after 27 years of service. John also became chief of Swissvale Auxiliary. He loved gardening, classic cars, watching the Pittsburgh sports team and spending time with his family but most importantly he loved reading his bible. 

Family and friends will be received at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.  A Funeral Service will be held Monday, 11 AM, at the funeral home. With respect to the family, all those attending are asked to follow social distancing guidelines.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Light of Life Rescue Missions, 234 Voeghtly St, Pittsburgh, PA 15212, a charity that was very close to John’s heart.
