John D. Simcho Obituary

John D. Simcho, a longtime resident of Munhall, PA, passed away on September 26, 2023, at age 80. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and soulmate, , Barbara Jean (Mickens) Simcho, who died on November 29, 2021.  John is the son of James and “Peggy” (Rots) Simcho.  He is survived by his daughter, Dana Michelle Golden (George), of North Carolina, his brother, James Simcho, his sister, Rita Bean Eichelberger (Tony), his grandsons, Ben (Monica) and David, and four great grandchildren.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

John was a proud Marine veteran, and he could often be seen wearing a Marine Corps tee shirt.  He retired as a Sergeant from the Munhall Police Force, where he served for 42 years.  John and his wife were loyal Steeler football fans and each weekend, they would order their football food, put on their Steeler gear, and retreat to the game room to cheer on their team. John and his wife, Barbara, were avid bike riders, taking to the trails for long rides almost every weekend.  They also enjoyed traveling and made many trips to St. Martin, one of their favorite islands. 

A memorial mass for John and his wife, Barbara, will be held on October 21, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Therese of Lisieux Church of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Munhall.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project support.woundedwarriorproject.org or to a charity of your choice. Inurnment will follow at St. Elias Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, West Mifflin, PA 15122.
