John L. Stricko, of Kennywood (West Mifflin), passed away on November 3, 2024, at the age of 74.
He was the beloved husband of Anita (Hanecek) Stricko of 46 years; loving father of Jaime (Brad) Balliard, John Stricko, and Andrew Stricko; son of the late John and Helen (Macura) Stricko; brother of the late Helen Stricko-Vrabel; brother-in-law of Karen (Dale) Lostetter, Charles (June) Hanecek, and Susan Felinczak; also survived by generations of nieces and nephews. He was eagerly greeted at the Rainbow Bridge by his cherished Yorkshire Terrier, Bones "Bo."
John was an Army Veteran who served during Vietnam. He spent much of his career as a Receiving Manager for AM Lutheran Distribution, and retired from the UPMC McKeesport Dietary Department in 2016. John was an avid runner who proudly completed the Pittsburgh Marathon in 1990. He was a former coach for the West Mifflin Girls Softball Association and the James LaVelle School Girls Basketball team. He enjoyed playing Catan with his kids after Wednesday family dinner and was heavily involved with his Fantasy Football League. As a former employee of Kennywood, he loved hanging out with his "Kennywood Boys" that he grew up with.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2-4 & 6-8 PM, at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 7, 10 AM, at the St. Joseph Church of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Duquesne. Condolences may be left at www.swgfuneralhome.com.
