Joseph John Kontra

Joseph J. Kontra, of Munhall, passed on December 18, 2020, at the age of 86. He was the son of the late Michael and Bertha Kontra. Joseph married and is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marian (Loosz) Kontra. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael, William, Danny, and Thomas Kontra; and sisters, Betty Mitrik, Mary Pasko, and Loretta Kontra. Joseph proudly served his nation in the U.S. Army. He was employed by U.S. Steel, Homestead Works, the St. Elias Byzantine Catholic Church, and the Steel Valley ambulance service. He was a member of the V.F.W. In addition to his wife, Marian, he is survived by his daughter, Tina Salopek of Virginia Beach, VA; sons, Craig (Connie) of Huntingtown, MD, Shawn of Ellenwood, GA, and Joseph (Karan) Kontra of Port Republic, MD; and grandchildren, Joseph Salopek, Brian Kontra, Ashley Salopek, and Angel Kontra.

Private services officiated by Rev. Fr. Vitali Stashkevych have been entrusted to the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. Interment at Jefferson Memorial Park, Pittsburgh. Condolences may be left at www.swgfuneralhome.com.
