Joseph E. Pelo, Jr., of Pittsburgh, formerly of Lorain, OH, passed away on December 14, 2025, at the age of 94. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Olexa) Pelo; son of the late Joseph E., Sr., and Sophie Pelo; brother of the late Irene Serma, Amelia Dettoree, and Karen Rankin; uncle of Bernadette (Larry) Speer, Robert (Claire) Hildenbrand, Richard (Patricia) Goda, Brandi Rankin, Joseph (Carmen) Rankin, Karen (Doc) Serma, and the late Jimmy Rankin; great-uncle of Michael (Kelly) Speer, Kate (Jacob) Sebastiao, David (Sara) Speer, Paige (Zachery) Halutick, Jeremy Montgomery, and Will (Hannah) Montgomery; and dear friend of Edward and Deb Chavez and Olga and the late Alan Chrisman.
Joe was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Korean War. He was employed as an Inspector at the Ford Motor Company plant in Lorain, Ohio, and was a member of the United Auto Workers of America. Joe was a devoted member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Lorain, where he also belonged to the Holy Name Society. In his free time, he enjoyed the camaraderie of the Kipton Sportsmen’s Club and was an avid deer hunter.
