Joseph "Sook" Szatkowski

Joseph Michael "Sook" Szatkowski, of West Mifflin, formerly of East Brunswick, NJ, passed away on June 6, 2024, at the age of 84. 

Sook was born in Homestead, PA to the late Walter and Julia (Wargo) Szatkowski. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor M. (Taylor) Szatkowski and the late Marian Roberta “Robbie” (Terrick) Szatkowski; loving father of Laurie (Paul) Lynch, MaryLynn (Mark) Riemann, and Joseph W. (Marianne) Szatkowski; brother of Francis (Dolores) Szatkowski and the late Bernadette Nichols, Bernard Szatkowski, and Mary Szatkowski; proud grandfather of Paul (Shannon) Lynch, Jr., Brianna (Troy) Ewen, Megan and Matthew Riemann, and Ryan and Tanner Szatkowski; and step-grandfather of Madde and Ella Huebner, and Brittany and Sarah Barsotti. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends in Pittsburgh and New Jersey. 

Sook was a Veteran of the Army and was a skilled tradesman who worked as a pipefitter plumber for the Ford Motor Company with over 40 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local 980, and a proud member of the Polish American Club out of Sportswood, NJ. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid sports fan. He especially loved to watch his grandchildren play sports and he traveled to cheer them on and watch them play. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be truly missed by all those who knew him. 

Family and friends will be received at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120, on Wednesday, June 19, 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 20, 10 AM, at the St. Therese Church of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Munhall. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 1:30 PM. Everyone please meet at the cemetery by 1:15 PM.
