Joseph W. Zupan, Sr., of Munhall, formerly of McKeesport and Duquesne, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord Jesus on Saturday, January 01, 2022, at the age of 71. He was born on April 11, 1950, and was the son of the late John Zupan, Sr; and grandson to the late Mary Zupan. He was a 1968 graduate of McKeesport High School, served in the United States Marine Corps at Camp LeJeune from 1969 to 1971, and was previously employed as an Executive Accountant and Controller for the Crystal Springs Company of Carnegie.
He was the beloved husband of 50 years of the late Carolyn E. Zupan (Savannah); loving father of Joseph W. (Brooke) Zupan, Jr., and Angela (Dan) Hafen; grandfather of Jameson and Ava Hafen, and Joseph, III, and Olivia Zupan; brother of John (Rita) Zupan; and brother-in-law of Ronald (the late Norma) Savannah, George (Betty) Savannah, Cecelia (Tony) Grenek, Virginia (the late Larry) McCracken, Marsha (the late Ken; significant other, Gary Bosley) Bauer, and the late Rosemarie (the late Mike) Spohn. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Joseph loved being a devoted husband, father, and grandpap, and he dearly cherished all of his family. Also known as the legendary "Daddy Z" and "Coach Pappie Joe," he was a father figure to all. He loved coaching baseball, playing the long neck base guitar in the family band, and enjoyed going to the Casino. He is a true Legend as a Steelers season ticket holder with his famous "Terrible Horn" for over 45 years representing Steeler Country at its finest with his son and grandson sitting along by his side. "Heaven just received a beautiful soul."
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, 2 - 4 PM and 6 - 8 PM at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022, 10:00 AM at Holy Name Church of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Duquesne. Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Port Vue.
