Josephine A. (Eckley) Smith

Josephine “JoAnn” A. Smith, of Lincoln Place, passed away on September 18, 2022 at the age of 86. She was the beloved wife of 67 years of Frederick Smith; mother of Gary (Carolyn) Smith, Cynthia (Chris) Meyer, Michael Smith, and Jeffery (Tracy) Smith; sister of Paul Eckley Jr. and Robert Eckley; grandmother of Alex and Nicholas Smith, Christopher and Chelsea Meyer, Megan Smith, Lauren and Matthew Smith, and Shannon (Randy) Klimek; great-grandmother of Nevaeh and Arlo. Josephine is preceded in death by her parents, Paul E. Eckley and Anne (Fedoris) Eckley, and her children, the late Paula Smith and the late Fred (Betsy survives) Smith.

Josephine was a devoted Catholic and very active in her church and prayed the weekly Rosary with her church community. She loved to travel and spent many years as a snowbird in Florida. Josephine played important roles in other community organizations such as the Lion’s Club in Homestead and the AARPs #3172 where she served not only as a member, but also on the board of directors. Lastly, she worked as a Healthcare Representative at Blue Cross Blue Shield for over 20 years. 

Family and friends to be received Thursday, September 22 from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM and Friday, September 23 from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME INC., Munhall, PA 15120. A Funeral Mass will be held the following day, September 24, at 10 AM at St. Agnes Church of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish West Mifflin, PA 15122. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
