Lawrence George Yanyo

Lawrence G. Yanyo, of Munhall, passed away in the warm embrace of his family on July 22, 2026, at the age of 92. He was the beloved husband of 71 years of Caryl Faye (Brinker) Yanyo; father of Laurie Sue (Adam) Barksdale and Dr. Lynn Caryl Yanyo; Gramps of Elise Brinker Everett and Colin Yanyo Everett; PaPa of Lilyanna Madelene Barksdale; son of the late George and Anna (Mraz) Yanyo; brother of the late Anna Yanyo, Margaret Khorey, and Mildred Yanyo; brother-in-law of Laurel O'Hare, and Cheryl Murano; also survived by generations of nieces and nephews.

Larry was a graduate of the Munhall Vocational School, where he studied Electronics and Automotive Technology; he later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Auditing and Accounting from Robert Morris University. He retired as a Tax Manager with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. A proud veteran, Larry honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as an Airman First Class Supply Specialist. He was a devoted member of St. Elias Byzantine Church, where he faithfully served as Treasurer, and BINGO Director for more than 50 years. His dedication to the parish and its community reflected a lifetime of generosity, commitment, and service. 

He also had a lifelong passion for sports, especially golf and bowling. An avid golfer, he participated in numerous golf leagues for more than 60 years, enjoying both the competition and the friendships the game brought him. Larry was also a remarkably talented bowler, achieving the rare distinction of rolling two perfect 300 games during his 70-year bowling career. For more than 50 years, he was a Gold Member of the Thompson Run Athletic Association. He also treasured the time he spent with Frank Yurkovich and friends as a member of their Monthly Card Group.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, July 28, 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120; a Panachida Service will take place at 6 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 10 AM, at the St. Elias Byzantine Catholic Church, Munhall. Interment to follow at St. Elias Cemetery, West Mifflin.
