Leona (Powers) Bickus, 87, of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born January 7, 1939, in Braddock, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Dehlia (Connelly) Powers; and the beloved wife of the late James Bickus. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Richard Puzio.
Leona retired from Westinghouse Corporation following many years of dedicated service. She later continued her ministry of service as an employee of the Diocese of Pittsburgh at Resurrection Parish in West Mifflin. Following the parish reorganization, she remained a devoted member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, where her faith, kindness, and commitment to her church community continued to be an important part of her life.
A loving aunt, devoted family member, and cherished friend, Leona found her greatest joy in spending time with family, serving her church, and traveling. She will be remembered for her warm smile, gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering faith. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving nieces, nephews, extended family; and many dear friends, all of whom will cherish her memory.
Family and friends will be received at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Rita Church of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Munhall. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Duquesne. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Munhall, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in memory of Leona and in honor of her faith-filled life and enduring legacy.
