Loretta H. Theofiledes, affectionately known as “Nunny," of West Homestead, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, at the age of 85. She was the beloved wife of 65 years to the late Nickolas Theofiledes; devoted mother of Michelle, Nick, John (Jennifer), and Lorraine; and the adoring grandmother of Amanda (Zac) Searcy, the late Nickolas, Anthony (Kayla), Jessica (Michael) Bennett, Jenna (Ty) Schwab, Alix, Rebecca, Jane, and Cole. She was also a proud step-grandmother to Miranda and Colin Chapa; and a cherished great-grandmother to Henry Searcy and Riley-Ann Chapa. The daughter of the late John and Helen (Bache) Vangura, Loretta was the loving sister of Ron and Donald Vangura, and the late Beverly Cavacini; sister-in-law to Harry (Jo) Theofiledes and the late Karl and Carol Pitassi. She is also survived by her extended family of nieces and nephews in Pittsburgh, Dallas, Carolina, Memphis and Florida, as well as many dear friends from her credit union family to lifelong childhood friends, Bell and Poe, who cherished her deeply.
Loretta, known as "Lala" or "Nunny," was one of the most selfless souls you could ever meet. She was someone who would do anything for anyone, at any time. She lived a life centered on family and faith, offering unwavering love, endless support, and warm hospitality. Whether it was preparing one of her famous meals (especially her legendary stuffed cabbage and potato salad), welcoming guests into her home, or comforting others with a kind word and a hot cup of endless coffee, Loretta gave of herself freely and joyfully. Her strength, generosity, and warmth left an unforgettable imprint on every life she touched.
In her later years, Loretta found joy in life’s simple pleasures such as cooking dinners, loved grocery shopping, playing the slot machines at the casino, tending her garden, and relaxing by her backyard pool. Her presence will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, June 14, 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Savolskis-Wasik-Glenn Funeral Home, Inc., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
