Margaret (Slantz) Derry

Margaret Derry, 98 years old, Matriarch and loyal servant of God from West Mifflin and Homeville, the beloved wife of John T. Derry passed away quietly at the family home on February 28, 2025. Margaret was a beloved mother of five, including Pat Derry of West Mifflin, Donna (Ken) Green of Leesburg, FL, John (Jill) Derry, Jr., of Oldsmar, FL, Jean (Terry) Howard of West Mifflin, and Steven (Kathy) Derry of North Huntington; grandmother of seven, including Ken (Sandy) Green, Kris (Jen) Derry, Stephanie (Scott) Algeri, Tony (Kaila) Derry, Megan Howard, Danny (Rui Tanimura) Howard, and the late John T. Derry, III. Also, Deb Derry is mother to John Derry, III and Kris Derry; great-grandmother of eight, including Eva and Levi Derry (mother, Sadie), Rocco and Renzo Algeri, Parker and Brayden Derry, and Dominic and Desmond Derry; daughter of the late Anton and Mary (Logar) Slantz; sister of the late Mary Povasaris, John Slantz, Ann Gasson, Helen Chepley, Joseph Slantz, and Anthony Slantz; aunt of five nieces and two nephews.

Later in life, she was cared for by her eldest daughter, Patsy, in the small family home of 72 years where all the relatives came together during holidays and celebrations. She had maintained friendships with childhood friends and close neighbors. In addition, the family would like to express their gratitude to Tracy, Sandy, Bryan, and Chaplain Eric of UPMC Family Hospice of Mount Lebanon for their loving support and care.
