Mary L. Brekosky Obituary

Mary L. Brekosky, of West Homestead, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by her loving family on February 4, 2024, at the age of 89.

She was the beloved wife of 68 wonderful years of Lawrence C. Brekosky; mother of Susan (Michael) Anthony of Bethlehem, PA, Lawrence (Paula) Brekosky of Ephrata, PA, Donna (Glenn) Reidenbaugh of Canonsburg, PA, and the late Mary Kay (husband, Vincent survives) Vuoto of Rockville Centre, NY; grandmother of Vincent (Rachel) and Michael (Christy) Vuoto, Stephen and David (Morgan) Anthony, Rachel (Michael) Villanueva, and Leah (Ian) Miller, Lauren (Mitchell) Way, Madie (Andrew) Pare, Matthew (Carly), and the late Baby Anna Brekosky, and Hannah (Will) Graziani and Patrick (Riley) Reidenbaugh; great-grandmother of 17, with one on the way in June of 2024, and two who greeted her in Heaven; daughter of the late John and Anna (Penzelik) Behun; sister of Dorothy Scheletsky, Ann (the late George) Havrilcsak, Bernice (Donald) Motta, Thomas Behun, and the late Pauline "Jean" (the late Constance) Kontos, and Michael (wife, JoAnne survives); also survived by generations of nieces and nephews.

Mary was a member of the Christian Mothers at the former St. Anne's Church (presently St. Maximilian Kolbe of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish), where she celebrated her faith as a Eucharistic Minister. She was involved in many activities in her church and the Parish school. She was also a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union and Jednota. She was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing, and traveler who visited major cities in Europe and destinations around the USA.

Mary's family wishes to give special thanks to her caregivers and Pinnacle Hospice for their unwavering care and support over the past several months.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, February 7, 2-4 & 6-8 PM, at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 8, 10 AM, at the St. Maximilian Kolbe Church of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Homestead. Interment will follow at St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery, Munhall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Appalachian Work Camp care of St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 363 W 11th Ave, Homestead, PA 15120.
