Mary Louise (Bernd) Falce

Mary Louise Falce, of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully in her home on April 30, 2023, at the age of 93, following an extended illness.

She is survived by her loving husband of 75 years, Joseph Falce; three sons, Joseph (Karen) Falce of West Mifflin, Chuck (Anita) Falce of Upper St. Clair, and Rob (Michele) Falce of Munhall; two grandsons, Justin (Courtney) Falce of Upper St. Clair and Jason (Bryanna Bays) Falce of Pittsburgh; two great-granddaughters, Violet Falce and Josie Falce, who brought much joy to her life. She is also survived by generations of nieces and nephews. She was daughter of the late Charles and Viola (Bowers) Bernd; and sister of the late Clarence Bernd, Edward Bernd, Russell Bernd, Ruth Racko, Raymond Bernd, Betty Whiteman, Anna Mae Vamos, Alice Manfredi, Gertrude Senich, and Robert Bernd. 

Mary Lou was very active in the local political scene, and served for over 50 years on the West Mifflin Democratic Committee, several of which as Vice Chair. She was a lifetime member of the ISDA-Victory Lodge.

Besides spending time with family, she enjoyed card club with her friends, bowling in the Early Birds league, bus trips all over the country, playing the slots at the casino, and watching her beloved Pittsburgh Pirates. 

She was well-known for her delicious cheesecakes which she sold to several of the area's top restaurants for many years. 

Special thanks to Gallagher Hospice for their wonderful and kind care over the past months, especially Andi, Paula, Meghan, and Kristy. Also, a very special thanks to Chekaia Allen of EMICare Services, as well as her many other caregivers who have offered loving support to Mary Lou and her family over the past several months. 

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, May 3, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 4, 11 AM, at the St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church of the Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, Pittsburgh. Entombment will follow at the Lebanon Church Cemetery's Mausoleum, West Mifflin.
