Oscar L. Kahan, born March 16, 1933 to Ilona and Lajos Kana in Czechoslovakia, died September 15, 2020 in Cranberry's Paramount Facility for dementia patients. Oscar's family moved to Hungary in 1940 until 1957 when he and his sister's family came to McKeesport as political refugees during the Hungarian Revolution. He met Sylvia Litz while working at West Penn Hospital, and later married her on September 5, 1959. He started his career as an electrical foreman at Bethlehem Steel in 1959, and retired from Turet Steel in 2003. Oscar is survived by sons, Kenneth M. (Brigitte) Kahan and Keith (Lynn) Kahan; grandchildren, Nicole and Jason Kahan; step-grandchildren, Kirsten and Madeline Arrendale; brother-in-law, Robert A. (Pat) Litz, Sr., along with his children, step-children, and their families; niece, Zsa Lobel; and great-niece, Courtney; as well as an large extended family of cousins and their families. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Gabriella Benczei and Katalin Polyak. There will be no visitation, per Oscar's wishes. Services have been entrusted to the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC, 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of your choice.
