John T. "Jack" Brennan, of Whitaker, formerly of Brookline, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by his beloved family on June 1, 2023, at the age of 78 following a brief illness.
Jack was a retired officer of the Allegheny County Police Department, where he served for 39 years. During this time, Jack was a Lieutenant Commander of the Homicide Unit where he led for 23 years.
He was the beloved husband of 33 years of Janet (Margo) Brennan; loving father of Matthew Brennan, Shelly Hunter, Kathleen (David) Yates, and Stacey (Craig) Mitchell; grandfather of Sarah (Eddy) Carey, Alisa (Joshua) Carey Myers, Liam Yates, Jennifer (Joseph) Mitchell Sheehan, Nicholas (Faith) Mitchell, Staff Sgt. Cody Hunter, Ethan (Darra) Hunter, Tyler Krajacic, Malcolm Randolph, Jeremy (Emily) Daugherty, Melissa (Aaron) Myers, and Allison (Clay) Daugherty; great-grandfather of Joshy Brennan Myers, Molly Gail Myers, and Amelia Jane Sheehan; son of the late John E. and Anna (O'Leary) Brennan; brother of the late Mary Ann (the late Larry) Pash, Margaret "Peggy" (the late Jim) Kennedy, James J. (wife, Sylvia, survives) Brennan, Sr., and Mary Ellen (the late Gary Intheral) Brennan Laskowski; also survived by brother-in-law, Joseph Margo, as well as generations of nieces and nephews, and a large extended family of Law Enforcement Officers who worked with Jack throughout his entire career.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 5, 2-7 PM at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. A Memorial Service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, June 8, 10 AM, followed by inurnment at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
