Richard Pasquantonio

Richard Pasquantonio, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated public servant, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 30, 1951, to Angelo and Elizabeth Pasquantonio, Rich lived a life defined by integrity, loyalty, service, and an unwavering love for his family and community. He was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur, and is survived by his brother, Robert.

Rich grew up in Squirrel Hill, but it was Whitaker that he would come to call home. He took tremendous pride in his community and dedicated himself to serving the people who lived there. Rich proudly served as the Mayor of Whitaker and as a Constable, roles that reflected his lifelong commitment to public service. He was also a proud law enforcement officer who retired from the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, carrying himself with courage, honor, and a deep sense of duty throughout his career. Serving and protecting others wasn’t simply what Rich did, it was an important part of who he was.

But for all of the titles Rich held throughout his life, none meant more to him than husband, Dad, and Pap.

For 54 wonderful years, Rich shared his life with the love of his life, Patricia “Patty Ann” Pasquantonio. Together, they built a family rooted in love, strength, loyalty, and commitment. Rich loved being Patty Ann’s husband, and the life they created together was one of his greatest sources of pride.

Rich was the loving father of Melissa (Jake), Richard (Michele), Patrick (Carmen), and Matthew (Kailee). He loved his children fiercely and was immensely proud of the families they made.

Perhaps no title brought Rich more joy than “Pap.” He was the proud grandfather of Isaac (Nicoletta), Carmen, Angelo, Violet, Aubrey, Agostino, and Luciano. His grandchildren were among the greatest joys of his life, and he treasured the time he spent with each of them. Being their Pap wasn’t simply a role to Rich; he embraced it with his whole heart.

Those who knew Rich will remember his strength, loyalty, dedication, and the fierce love he had for the people who mattered most to him. They will also remember his big laugh, the kind that could fill an entire room. He was proud of where he came from, proud of the community he called home, proud of his years of service, and, above everything else, proud of his family.

From his childhood in Squirrel Hill to the home and community he found in Whitaker, Rich built a life centered around service and family. His years as a law enforcement officer, Mayor, and Constable leave behind a legacy of public service, while the love he gave to Patty Ann, his children, and his grandchildren leaves behind an even greater legacy.

Though Rich will be deeply missed, the lessons he taught, the stories he created, and the love he gave will continue through his family for generations to come.

In accordance with Rich's wishes, no public visitation or funeral service will be held. The Pasquantonio family sincerely thanks everyone for their love, prayers, and support.
