Richard E. "Dick" Caito was welcomed into Heaven on January 12, 2023, at the age of 85, in Naples, Florida. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 47 years, Thelma (McElhinny) Caito. The two were rarely apart. He is dearly loved by his daughters, Jennifer (Brian) Lokai and Maureen (Paul) McDonald; grandchildren, Abigail, Jacob, Julia, Francis, Cecilia and Louis; sister, Joanne Cushard; and niece/goddaughter, Christine Swetz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jane (Harrington) Caito.
Dick began his vocational journey in the seminary, studying for the Catholic priesthood at Oblate College. God had a different plan for him and he completed his schooling at St. Vincent's and, for 30 years, worked as a claims adjuster for Allstate. A man of many talents, Dick was an entertaining magician, played hockey and softball, and sang in the church choir. He enjoyed a great detective series and challenging mystery puzzle. Dancing, dinner theater and traveling the world were some of his favorite activities but dining out was top of his list of favorite things to do.
Friends will be received at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., on Friday, January 20, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 21, 10 AM, at St. Agnes Church of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, West Mifflin. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (oblatesusa.org). Condolences may be left at www.swgfuneralhome.com.
