Richard J. Wesley, of Munhall, passed away surrounded by his loving family on August 6, 2023, at the age of 81.
He was the son of the late Michael and Catherine (Starusko) Wesley; devoted husband of 58 years to Frances (Collins) Wesley; loving father of Colleen (John) von Hollen; proud grandfather of Courtney von Hollen, Emily (Joe) Booth, Hayley (Max) Sherno, and Hannah von Hollen; great-grandfather of Madison Wilson, Hollen Marie Booth, and Edward Augustus "Auggie" Booth, with another great-granddaughter on the way; brother of Florence (the late Julius) Ban and the late Elsie (the late Wayne) Maxwell; also survived by generations of nieces and nephews.
Rich was a truck driver for American Bridge for 20 years. Following the closing of the steel mills, he worked as a Site Supervisor for Fifth Avenue Place and Penn Avenue. He was a life member and former President of Munhall Central Volunteer Fire Co., and was a member of the Munhall Planning Commission, a 50 year member of Bethel Masonic Lodge 761, and the Syria Shriners. He was a lifelong member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He helped his brother-in-law, Julius Ban, coach the Caspars Little League Baseball team in the 70's. He was an avid golfer and former member of the Westwood Golf Club. He enjoyed traveling on cruises with his wife and looked forward to trips to Vegas.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 11, 2-4 & 6-8 PM, at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120, where a brief fireman's service will be held at 7 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 11 AM, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Munhall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Munhall Central Volunteer Fire Co., or to Messiah Lutheran Church.
