Robert B. Genes

Robert B. Genes, of Cecil Township, formerly of Munhall, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by his beloved family on October 1, 2023, at the age of 92.

He was the loving husband of 57 years of the late Pauline (Varega) Genes; his heart was full of love for his three children, Paulette (Stephen) Genes-Rihely, Benjamin (Dawn) Genes, and Blaise (Terri) Genes; four grandchildren, Rebecca (Akshay) Deoras, Jacob (Christina) Genes, Anna Genes, and Claire Genes; and two great-grandchildren, Emma Grace and Jack Robert. He was the son of the late Benjamin and Theresa (Palovich) Genes; and brother of Joan Kavinsky, Cecelia Moran, and the late Stephanie Khuze; and is also survived by generations of nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Robert was a proud member of the US Army, and served during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, Robert was a Union carpenter; back in the day, he was a Master Craftsman and used his knowledge to help guide his kids with any project they had. He was a faithful servant to the Lord; he attended Mass every Sunday until the pandemic forced him to use his iPad to view Mass from home. Jesus was one of his greatest loves. Robert never met a meal he did not enjoy. It also did not matter what level, he would watch any football game that he could, and especially loved the Red Zone, and of course, Notre Dame, Penn State, and the Steelers. When there was no football, it was Westerns on TV. Getting to spend time with his grandkids and great-grandkids brought him so much joy. He was dearly loved and will be missed by his family and countless friends.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, October 4, 2-8 PM at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 5, 10 AM, at St. Therese of Lisieux Church of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Munhall. Entombment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Pittsburgh. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Therese of Lisieux Church of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 1 St. Therese Court, Munhall, PA 15120.
