Sonya M. (Porco) Matthews

Sonya M. Matthews, of Munhall, passed away unexpectedly in Florida on November 2, 2025, at the age of 41.

She was the beloved wife of 9 years of Michael Matthews; loving mother of Makena R. Matthews; cherished daughter of Gaspare and Rosa (Provenzano) Porco; treasured sister of Teresa (Colin) Curry, Joseph (Teresa) Porco, and the late Christopher (Jen survives) Porco; aunt of Gaspare, Guliana, Angelo, Vincenzo, Guisseppe, Marissa, Morgan, Marc, and Max.

Sonya earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh. She was passionate about helping others and found great fulfillment in her work as a physical therapist with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit helping children in their schools. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her daughter and family. 

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, November 9, 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12 noon on Monday, November 10, at the St. Therese of Lisieux Church of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Munhall. Interment at Jefferson Memorial Park, Pittsburgh.
