Stephen C. Gordy Obituary

We are incredibly sad to share that on Sunday, January 28, 2024, our cherished Stephen C. Gordy, of Irwin, passed away at home.

He was born in Pittsburgh to E. Vaughn Gordy, Jr. and June B. Gordy. Steve was a 1964 graduate of Mount Lebanon High School, Westminster College and the University of Pittsburgh, Katz School of Business. His very accomplished career was spent in Financial Services Marketing and Consulting.

He served his country in Vietnam and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for heroism.

Steve was crazy about his wife, Sharon. They married October 3, 1970 and he has tolerated her love for cats ever since. He adored and was extremely proud of their daughter, Susan (David) Street. Steve was the BEST Grandpa ever to Charlotte and Asher.

An avid reader, he was politically passionate and loved riding his motorcycle, especially through the hills of West Virginia with his friend since childhood, Rod Coffman. He was also a member of the Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church and the Norwin Elks.

He is survived by his brother, E.Vaughn (Patricia Mulcahy) Gordy, III; nephews, Jeff (Wendy) Gordy, Dave (Gillian) Gordy, and Christopher Gordy; along with his sister-in-law, Cindy Stepp Smith; niece, Lindsay Smith; and great-nephews, Lukas and Levi. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Barbie; and brother, Calvin.

Known for his kind heart, generosity and witty intellect, Steve will be missed beyond words.
