William M. Pelikan

William Michael Pelikan, 65, of West Mifflin passed at home on Sunday June 16, 2024 after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

 A lifelong resident of West Mifflin, Bill worked for the Xerox corporation for 42 years. He was incredibly active in the community as a roller hockey coach and softball coach for his children’s teams and as the first President of the West Mifflin Youth Football League. His service was most felt in his 47 years as a volunteer firefighter at Skyview Volunteer Fire Company Station 296 where he was President for over 20 years and a line officer for over 30. Bill spent his retirement playing in the South Hills Senior Softball league, bowling, and continuing to be an active firefighter. With everything that kept him busy, his biggest love was for his family. He often said that if he knew how fun grandchildren would be, he would have had them first.

Bill leaves behind his wife, Virginia “Jeannie” (Stanicar), to whom he was married for 42 years. He leaves behind his children Michael (Bethany) Pelikan and Kristi (Adam) Seemiller, and his five grandchildren: William, Harper, McKinley, Maddox and Nova, as well as his sisters, Katherine (Anthony) DiGiralomo, Elizabeth (William) Pisano, Dorothy (the late Robert) Burns, many nephews and a nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna (Eckenrode) Pelikan and his sister Margaret “Peggy” (husband Greg, survives) Heuer.

Friends and family to be received Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 1 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. A Funeral Mass will be held the following day, Friday, June 21, 2024 at 10 AM at St. Agnes Church, 622 St. Agnes Lane, West Mifflin, PA 15122.
