It is with great sadness that we share the passing of William H. Englert, of Munhall, PA, who peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 10, 2023, just a few weeks before his 90th birthday.
Born on Thanksgiving Day, he was the second son of eight children to the late Carl C., Sr., and Helen A. (Campbell) Englert. He is survived by his younger sister, Joanne S. Dorrier, and younger brother, Charles J. Englert. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Carl C. "Red," Jr., Donald E., Carol Ann Graf, Sarah M. Hall, and Joyce L. Englert. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 67 years, Janet (Kohut) Englert; and devoted daughters, Michelle M. Englert and Maureen E. (Jeffrey) McAdoo. He was the adoring "Pap" to Sean W. McAdoo (fiancée, Kaitlynn Grimes) and Caroline E. McAdoo; and is also survived by many in-laws, and nieces and nephews.
He followed his father into the Ironworkers Local #3, along with his two brothers, Red and Donny. He proudly served with the US Army. When driving throughout the tri-state area, the words "I worked on that!" always entered into the conversation with pride as he passed buildings and bridges. He enjoyed stream fishing with all of his brothers in their multiple "honey holes," always bringing home their limit to enjoy a most delicious fried fish dinner prepared by Janet.
After retiring, he was an avid golfer with the GCU Men's Golf League, enjoying many outings trying to outscore his fellow competitors. He took pride in his yard and his cars - especially his Buick which he kept immaculate. He could take anything apart and then put it back together even better than when he started.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, November 13, 2-6 PM, and Tuesday, November 14, 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120, where a Panachida Service will take place on Tuesday at 7 PM. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 10 AM, at the St. Elias Byzantine Catholic Church, Munhall. Interment will follow at St. Elias Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, West Mifflin.
