Helen Nadir Aber, formerly of West Mifflin PA died in Metairie, LA on May 5, 2019, at 95 years of age and now awaits the Resurrection. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Thomas Aber. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Hedrick (Lawrence Jr.); grandchildren Lori Brookins (Gregory), Lawrence III (Maria), and Fr. Timothy Hedrick; great grandsons Lawrence IV and Nicholas; sisters Virginia Aziz, Diana Valtr and many nephews and nieces. She worked tirelessly at St. George Orthodox Cathedral, chairing the Food Fares, Lenten Dinners, Mercy Dinners and many other Cathedral functions. Her family and friends were beneficiaries of her many talents, cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting which she generously shared. She was a big Steelers fan, loved to watch the Steelers games on TV with her Steelers blanket. Thank you to Gwen and Sharon and the staff of Fidelis Care Home for their kindness and care and to Sheila and Notre Dame Hospice for their compassionate care. Your services were greatly appreciated. A Funeral was held at Lakelawn Metairie Funeral Home on May 8, 2019. Visitation will be held at Salvolskis-Wasik-Glenn Funeral Home 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA on May 14, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, where a Trisagion Service will be held at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 3400 Dawson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 are requested.
