Of West Mifflin, on December 12, 2018, age 98. Son of the late Andrew and Ilona (Stulak) Smoley; beloved husband of 78 years of Dolores (Stec) Smoley; father of Carolyn Smoley Pacelli, Donald (Mary Jane) Smoley and the late Robert (wife Mary Ann survives) Smoley; brother of Leona (late William) Hawke, Frances (late Andrew) Zatorsky and predeceased by 2 brothers and 5 sisters; also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. John owned and operated John J. Smoley Special Woodworking for 55 years, retiring at age 95. He designed and built the Iconstasis for his home church of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Homestead as well as designing and building furnishes for hundreds of churches in the U.S and Canada. John was a life member of his church choir and a member of the Men’s Club. He served as an electrician in the Navy during WWII in the South Seas. Family and friends will be received at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall on Friday 2-4 and 6-9 PM. A Panachida Service will be Friday evening at 7 PM at the funeral home. A Funeral Service will be Saturday, 10 AM at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Homestead.
