Ed Pihonsky, of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2023, at the age of 89. He was the only son of the late John and Mary (Pochulka) Pihonsky of Homestead. Ed, also known as Pete to those closest to him, was the beloved husband to his beautiful bride, Margaret (Chuba) Pihonsky, for 65 years; he was the loving father of daughters, Diane (Pihonsky) Mauger, Linda Pihonsky and Karen Pihonsky; and had the wonderful pleasure of teasing and challenging granddaughters, Aubrey Mauger and Devan Mauger.
Throughout his career, Ed held various executive positions at Gimble Brothers of Pittsburgh. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and poker in his down time. This competitive spirit came to life when he played Division I football at Indiana University at Bloomington, starting as a freshman offensive tackle protecting the blind side . . . GO HOOSIERS! He was also a premier NFL prospect but an injury sidelined his career. He had a passion for history, a flair for selecting the most heart-felt greeting cards, and the most infectious belly laugh when taking photos on "Snapchat" often exclaiming "Oh My!" at the results. We will treasure all of the stories along with the fond memories and shout "TALLY-HO" in his honor.
Friends received Savolskis-Wasik-Glenn Funeral Home Inc. 3501 Main St., Munhall PA 15120, on Saturday, March 18, from 10 AM - 2 PM, with a Blessing Service at 1 PM. Condolences may be left at www.swgfuneralhome.com.
