Of West Homestead, on November 26, 2021, age 84. Son of the late Joseph and Wilma (Sopko) Stasko; beloved husband of 58 years of Alvalee (Kulhanek) Stasko; loving father of William J. Stasko, Mark (Greer) Stasko and Pamela (James) Prisk; brother of the late Stephen (wife Rose survives) Stasko; grandfather of Stephen, Reed, William, Caroline, and Cy. Also survived by extended family and nieces and nephews. William was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh as a metallurgical engineer and a veteran of the Army. He was employed at Crucible Steel as a research engineer for 44 years. In 1979 he was awarded the Payson-Mathews Award for his contribution in the development of new CPM tool steels and a key member in development of CPM-Rex25. In 1972 he contributed to the U.S. Patent of low-nickel valve steel and the U.S. Patent of powder metallurgy vanadium containing high speed steel. He was a member of the West Homestead council for over 30 years where he retired as president of council and was awarded the Thomas F. Chrostwaite award for over 20 years of dedicated service to the borough of West Homestead. He played a key part in the development of the Waterfront and was a member of various committees throughout the Steel Valley. A life long member and active parishioner of St. Elias Byzantine Church. He will be greatly missed and always remembered by his loving family and friends. Family and friends will be received at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall on Monday from 1-8 PM with a Panachida Service at 7 PM. A Funeral Service will held on Tuesday, 10 AM at St. Elias Byzantine Church, Munhall. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elias Byzantine Church.
