David Paul Hahner, Sr. Obituary

David P. Hahner, Sr., of Munhall, passed away on July 19, 2023, at the age of 83. He was the son of the late Charles J. and Cecelia (Reiter) Hahner; devoted husband of 62 years to Kathleen (Townsend) Hahner; father of David P. (Theresa) Hahner, Jr., Thomas (Sheila) Hahner, Kelly (Bob Semler) Hahner-Trautman, and William (Michele) Hahner; proud grandfather of Nicole (Jeffrey), Sarah, Meghan (Casey), Emma, and David, III; brother of the late Charles (the late Martha) and James (Jorgene) Hahner; brother-in-law of Eleanor (Joseph) Zuger; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. 

Dave retired after 40 years as Manager of Katilius Furniture in Homestead; following his retirement, he regularly worked as a greeter for the Savolskis-Wasik-Glenn Funeral Home. Dave was a very proud Veteran of the United States Army. He was a loyal member of the Homestead Lions, Chaplain of Munhall Central Volunteer Fire Department, President of the Homestead Economic Revitalization Corporation (HERC). He was a lifelong member of St. Therese Church of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, of which he served as an usher for over 50 years, and held a membership with the Thompson Athletic Club. He also founded Operation Clean Sweep, and was a volunteer at the Gettysburg National Military Park. Dave was a "people person" who loved to tell stories and jokes. He loved to travel to Gettysburg, PA, and Myrtle Beach, SC. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and his many friends. 

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, July 22, 6-8 PM, and Sunday, July 23, 2-4 & 6-8 PM, at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. Munhall Central Fire and Rescue and the Homestead Lions will perform short services on Sunday evening. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Therese of Lisieux Church of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Munhall, on July 24, 10 AM. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. He will be laid to rest at Jefferson Memorial Park, Pittsburgh. Memorial contributions may be made in Dave's name to the Homestead Lions Club or Munhall Central Volunteer Fire Department.
