Elizabeth A. "Betty," "Liz," or "Betty Liz," Korhnak, of Pittsburgh, passed on May 24, 2021, at the age of 86. She was the daughter of the late John and Irene (Jurovaty) Korhnak; sister of Margaret "Peg" Chalus, and the late John Korhnak and Irene Schafron; dearest friend of Patricia Niemic; niece of Frances Alexander; sister-in-law of Lawrence Schafron and Marian Korhnak: also survived by many nieces and nephews; and her beloved cats, Mo and Cookie.
Liz was a member of the Greater Pittsburgh Women's Bowling Association and Hall of Fame and a 50 year member of the PA State Womens Bowling Association, where she served as a Director, Treasurer, and Secretary. Throughout her time with the USBCA, she attended most State Tournaments and Annual Meetings since 1966, and bowled in the National Women's Tournament for 40 years. She was honored in 2009 as an Outstanding Woman Bowler for the PA State USBC WBA. Liz was also an avid golfer, gardener, and world traveler, taking great pride in having traveled to every state in the US. She retired from the Westinghouse-Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory after 40 years of dedicated service.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, May 27, 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 28, 10 AM, at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, St. Therese Church, Munhall. Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
